WHO IS THE WAYNE COUNTY SPEECH AND LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION?

We are a non-profit, self-supporting organization of self-motivated professionals interested in actively providing services to children who are communicatively impaired. Our Executive Board is drawn from the membership. Any member who is interested in serving on the Executive Board is more than welcome. Your ideas count!

WHY SHOULD YOU BECOME A MEMBER?

• You can earn ASHA and State Board CEUs. An annual CE Registry fee is required in order to register ASHA CEUs. CE Registry fees are paid by the participant directly to the ASHA National Office. The annual CE Registry fee allows registration of an unlimited number of ASHA CEUs for the calendar year. Contact the ASHA CE Division (301-897-5700) for CE fee subscription information. State Board CEUs are also being offered for each workshop. There is a $10 processing fee per workshop that must be paid on the day of the workshop. For general information about State Board CEUs contact Wayne County RESA at 734-334-1503.

• Membership provides an opportunity to interact with professionals from other school districts. (Note: Any interested person is welcome.) You do not need to live or work in Wayne County or even be employed in the field of Speech Pathology.

• Belonging will enhance your professional skills in areas identified by the membership.

• Members enjoy reduced workshop fees, receive direct information regarding all meetings, and take advantage of our “Early Bird Special”.

WHAT DOES WCSLA DO?

Our purpose is to provide opportunities for learning and professional growth. This includes providing workshops presented by local and state practitioners as well as nationally known authorities.

HOW DO I BECOME A DIRECTOR?

Nominations for directors will be accepted at the second to last workshop of the season, and will be voted on at the last workshop of the season. Executive positions are determined by the board of directors as a whole.

WHEN ARE MEETINGS HELD?

Our meetings are held in the early evening, three to four times during the academic year. This year we will have three all day workshops. The workshop fee includes registration, materials, and a continental breakfast.
